CEO OFFICE CONDUCTS ‘ELECTION RUN’ TO ENCOURAGE YOUNG VOTERS TO EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE

Gangtok, March 17 (IPR): Mr VB Pathak, Chief Secretary flagged off the 'Election Run' from MG Marg, Gangtok today.
The run was organized by Office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in collaboration with 'Service to Mankind' NGO as a part of Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP). The theme for the event was 'Nothing like voting, I vote for sure.'
The objective of the run was to generate awareness with special focus on young voters in view of the upcoming General Election 2024. Around 530 runners participated in the run.
The event also saw the presence of Mr D Anandan, Chief Electoral Officer, Mr R Telang Additional Chief Secretary, Education Department, Mr AK Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), Mr Avichal, ADGP, Ms Karma D Youtso, Secretary, IPRD, Ms Benu Gurung, Special Secretary, RDD, Mr Tushar Nikhare, District Collector (DC)-cum-DEO Gangtok, Mr Rohan Agawane, ADC Gangtok, Senior Officers from various line departments and members of Electoral Literacy Clubs of various schools and colleges in Gangtok.
Mr Anandan Chief Electoral Officer Sikkim in his address, extended his warm wishes to everyone in attendance. He emphasized on targeting the youth to make them aware about their voting rights and applauded the high percentage of voters in the State.
The District Collector-cum-District Election Officer Gangtok thanked everyone for their presence and hoped the enthusiasm today will also be shown when the youth come forward to vote in the upcoming General Election 2024.

3rd- Mr Keshav Adhikari
It maybe noted that the programme also included autograph signing on a pledge board which was signed by hundreds of youth present.
