Bi-monthly inspection of Hydro Power projects under Soreng district successfully conducted
Soreng, 20 July (IPR): The district team conducted a bi-monthly inspection of dams associated with the NHPC and DANS energy power project, today.
The inspection had the presence and participation of Mr Gideon Lepcha SDM (HQ), Mr Sunny Kharel SDM (Soreng), Mr Santosh Alley SDM (Mangalbaria), Mr Karchung Bhutia, Addl. Chief Engineer (Power Dept, Soreng), Mr Tsheten Tashi Lepcha DFO (T) Soreng, Mr DH Limboo RO/AD, Officers and officials from NHPC, Mr Nima Sherpa (Former Chairman NHPC) and officials from DANS Energy.
Various safety checks were initiated that included Siren Check ensuring the operational functionality of warning systems,verification that all necessary signages and markings are correctly placed and visible and a thorough discussions on implementing new safety protocols as per the latest guidelines.
With the NHPC Hydro Project at Reshi yet to commence production, the inspection team briefed the officials from NHPC about the existing guidelines on safety measures and directed the officials from NHPC to ensure compliance as the project heads towards completion.
