Bi-Monthly Inspection of Hydro Power Projects under Soreng District
Soreng, June 27(IPR):
Inspection of Hydro-Powers Projects, NHPC stage 4 and Dans Energy, Piplay, under Soreng District, was conducted today by a team led by SDM (HQ) Mr Prem K. Subba.
The team comprised of SDM HQ Mr Prem K Subba, SDM Soreng, Ms Sakchum Lepcha, SDM, Mangalbarey, Mr D N Sharma, DPO Disaster Management Authority, Mrs Rajani Pega, Range Officer (T) Mangalbaria, Mr Kamal Chettri, Fire Department Soreng ASFO, Mr Bishnu Sharma, Junior Engineers of Power Department, Officials of NHPC and Dans Energy and Mr Nima Sherpa of Reshi.
The inspection was carried out to ensure compliance with the safety measures and norms which ought to be implemented and followed by the Dam authorities for the safety of the people and their livelihood.
The team inspected the Dam site following which they enquired and assessed the signage and warning mechanisms including power and communication lines, audible devices and beacons, signage lights and announcement mechanisms for alerting sudden changes in the rate of flow in tailwater areas of the powerhouse.
Upon inspection the team recommended and suggested to ensure the addition of certain safety and security features. Such as proper visibility of danger warning signs, signages in vernacular language, illumination of signboards, installation of floodlights, safety gears and devices, early warning signs in inhabited areas along the river, organising mock drills in coordination and collaboration with DDMA, SDRF, NDRF and Fire department, stationing of divers and rafters, and the cleaning of tunnels and beautification of it.
