Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camp under (DAJUGA) and PM-JANMAN Campaigns in Pakyong District
Pakyong, June 17 (IPR):
The Social Welfare Department of Pakyong District has launched a 30-day campaign under the nationwide initiatives Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJUGA) and PM-JANMAN. The campaign is being carried out under the direction of District Collector Pakyong, Mr Agwane Rohan Ramesh (IAS), with the primary goal of spreading awareness and ensuring the saturation of benefits under various tribal welfare programmes implemented by the Government of India.
The campaign officially began on June 17 with a district-level awareness and benefit saturation camp at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Pakyong. The event marked the first major activity under this month-long outreach effort.
The inaugural session of the campaign was led by Panchayat President of Yakten GPU, Ms Sarita Bhushal who was present as the Chief Guest. The launch event also saw participation from several Panchayat representatives of different Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) across the district. The event recorded the presence of approximately 250 individuals from tribal communities who engaged with various service units and gained access to several schemes and entitlements.
The camp brought together multiple departments and functionaries, who worked in coordination to deliver services and share information. The key officials who attended the camp included:
Chief Medical Officer, Pakyong, Mr MM Dhakal, along with his medical team from the Health Department.
Social Welfare Officer cum Deputy Director, Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Disabilities Department (WCSCDD), Ms Dikit Lepcha, with her departmental staff.
Deputy Director of the Department of Economics, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation (DESME), Ms Nenela Kazi with her team.
Welfare Officer, Social Welfare Department, Ms Sunita Dahal, along with her team.
As part of the integrated services at the camp, several benefit delivery stations were set up. The Department of Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Disabilities conducted a disabilities screening and support camp.
The Health Department facilitated a health check-up and wellness service for the tribal community through an on-site medical camp. In alignment with the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh (JJGV) celebrations, a special camp for the creation of Ayushman Bharat health cards was also organised.
The DESME team set up an Aadhaar enrolment and update booth, ensuring access to essential identity documentation for those who had yet to be enrolled or needed corrections.
The Social Welfare Department provided extensive information on schemes under their purview, such as pre- and post-matric scholarships, livelihood programmes. Officers ensured that all queries were addressed, and beneficiaries were guided through processes to avail the schemes without delay.
The Election Department also took part in the campaign by setting up a facilitation counter to assist beneficiaries in the preparation and updating of their Voter ID cards. Officers from the department guided individuals through the enrolment process, including form filling, document submission, and verification. Special focus was given to first-time voters, individuals who had recently attained voting age, and those requiring corrections in their existing electoral records. The department’s involvement ensured that tribal citizens could exercise their voting rights without any procedural barriers, reinforcing the campaign’s broader goal of enabling full access to civic entitlements.
This awareness and saturation initiative is part of a larger national campaign aimed at improving outreach to tribal areas and ensuring that no eligible person is left out of government support mechanisms. The remaining days of the campaign will involve similar camps at different locations across Pakyong District, with teams working to reach remote and under-served villages.
The district administration has urged the public to cooperate and participate actively in the ongoing campaign to make it a success.
