Awareness Programme on Government Schemes Reaches Lachung Dzomsa

Mangan, December 7 (IPR): The District Industries Centre (DIC), Mangan, under the Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Sikkim Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (SEED) Cell, organised a one-day Awareness Programme on Central and State Government Schemes at Lachung Dzomsa today.
The programme was graced by Pipon, Lachung Dzomsa, Mr Dorjee Tshewang Lachungpa, as the Chief Guest.
OSD, Commerce & Industries Department and General Secretary, SEED Cell, Mr Dipen Subba, along with officers and staff of DIC and SEED Cell led by Deputy Director, DIC, Gangtok and Mangan, Mr Janak Chettri were also present.
The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness and strengthening support systems for unemployed youth, aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners. The participants were briefed on various Central and State Government schemes, financial assistance programmes, digital platforms and mentorship opportunities aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and livelihood generation.
Following the traditional welcome, SEED Cell Coordinator, Mangan District, Mr Tashi Ongdup Lepcha delivered the welcome address.
In his address, the Pipon highlighted the importance of discipline, courage and perseverance in achieving success. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sikkim and the Minister-cum-Area MLA of 31-Lachen–Mangan Constituency for introducing people-oriented and entrepreneur-friendly schemes. He stated that such awareness initiatives would greatly benefit the people of Lachung, especially those engaged in tourism and allied activities, and informed that many local entrepreneurs have shown keen interest in centrally sponsored schemes like UNNATI.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr Dipen Subba emphasised the role of SEED Cell in guiding and mentoring young aspirants and emerging entrepreneurs. He highlighted the importance of cultivating a positive mindset among students and youth and reiterated the Government’s continued efforts to strengthen local industries, promote entrepreneurship and generate employment under the vision of “One Family, One Entrepreneur.”
Presentations on various schemes were delivered by Deputy Director, DIC, Gangtok and Mangan, Mr Janak Chettri on the UNNATI scheme, Inspector, DIC, Gangtok, Mr Churamani Roka on the functioning of District Industries Centre, and Inspector, DIC, Gangtok, Mr Norbu Lepcha on the PMEGP scheme, highlighting eligibility norms, subsidy provisions and loan procedures.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Office Manager, SEED Cell, Mr Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara.
