Namchi, April 1 (IPR): The scrutiny of nominations filed for the General Municipal Elections 2026 for seven wards under Namchi Municipal Council (NMC) and five wards under Nayabazar–Jorethang Nagar Panchayat (NJNP) was conducted at the Office of Municipal Returning Officer, Namchi, Ms Anupa Tamling, today.
The scrutiny process was carried out by the Municipal Returning Officer (MRO), Namchi, in the presence of the candidates, and was overseen by the Election Observer for Namchi District, Mr Shailendra Sharma, PCE-cum-Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department (PHE).
During the process, all the nominations filed by five candidates of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha Party(SKM) for the 5 wards under NJNP were accepted by the MRO. The accepted nominations under the NJNP are as follows:
1. Mr Sunil Kumar Gupta (SKM Party) filed a nomination for 01 Shantinagar Ward.
2. Ms Manjari Rai (SKM Party) for 02 Trikaleshwar Ward.
3. Ms Uma Protel (SKM Party) for 03 Daragaon Ward.
4. Mr Samten Moktan Tamang (SKM Party) for 04 Majhigaon Ward.  
5. Mr Randeep Chhetri (SKM Party) for 05 Nayabazar Ward.
Similarly, the nominations filed by nine candidates for the 7 wards under NMC were also duly approved by the MRO. The accepted nominations under the NMC are as follows:
1. Ms Saraswati Sharma (SKM Party) filed for 01 Gangyap Ward.
2. Ms Nima Choden Lepcha (Independent) filed nominations for 01 Gangyap Ward.
3. Ms Anu Chettri (SKM Party) filed for 02 Dambudara Ward.
4. Mr Sangay Bhutia (Bharatiya Janta Party) filed for the 03 Upper Ghurpisey Ward.
5. Mr Pem Norbu Bhutia (SKM Party) for 03 Upper Ghurpisey Ward.
6. Ms Mamta Kalikotey (SKM Party) for 04 Lower Ghurpisey Ward.
7. Ms Lucky Tamang (SKM Party) for 05 Upper Boomtar Ward.
8. Mr Ganesh Rai (SKM Party) for 06 Upper Singhithang Ward.
9. Mr Manoj Kumar Manger (SKM Party) for 07 Purano Namchi Ward.
It maybe mentioned here that the Withdrawal of Candidature by any cadidates can be done on or before 4th April, 2026, before 3 PM at the office of the MRO Namchi.
