Agriculture Department distributes temperate fruit crop saplings to farmers of Dzongu Block
Mangan, March 6: Distribution of temperate fruit crop saplings was carried out at Passingdang, Sangdong and Lum Langtyang villages under Dzongu Block in Mangan District under the Vibrant Village Programme 2025–2026, under the aegis of the Agriculture Department.
The programme was attended by Mr. Padam Gurung, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department, Mangan District, along with concerned Panchayat members, field functionaries and farmers of the area.
During the programme, saplings of temperate fruit crops, including Low Chilling Apple varieties (Anna, Michel, Dorsett Golden and HRMN-99), Peach varieties (Reliance and Prabhat) and Plum varieties (Red Beaut and Frontier) were distributed to the farmers for plantation in their respective fields.
Mr. Padam Gurung, Deputy Director, briefed the farmers about the Vibrant Village Programme and its objectives. He also explained the technical aspects and criteria for proper plantation, spacing and establishment of orchards for better growth and productivity of temperate fruit crops.
The farmers were encouraged to adopt scientific cultivation practices for the successful establishment of orchards and improved fruit production in the area.
