Gyalshing, October 3 (IPR): A cheque distribution programme under the Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana (ASY), was held for beneficiaries of Yangthang Constituency at Kyongsha Ground, Gyalshing District, today.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Limboo said that the scheme provides financial support to Aamas while recognising their contribution to their families and society. He said the scheme was also a way of showing respect and recognition to mothers.
Recalling the loss of his mother when he was around nine years old, the Minister said that he did not get the opportunity to honour her. He said the occasion was therefore particularly meaningful to him and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang for introducing initiatives to recognise and support Aamas across Sikkim.
The Minister also spoke about Aama Samman Diwas, observed on August 10, and the Best Aama Awards, which recognise Aamas for their contribution to their families and communities. The assistance is transferred directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He urged beneficiaries to check their accounts and confirm receipt of the assistance.
Regarding eligible Aamas who were not covered in the first phase, Minister Limboo said they would be included in the next phase, with arrangements for their inclusion from 2027 onwards. He urged officials and local representatives to ensure that no eligible Aama was left out.
District Collector-cum-District Magistrate, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa, stressed the need for proper verification while identifying beneficiaries. He urged officials to ensure that the benefits reached eligible beneficiaries and that the distribution was carried out as per the required procedures.
He also called for close coordination among district officials, panchayat representatives and local representatives to ensure smooth distribution of cheques and address any issues faced by beneficiaries. He urged beneficiaries to use the assistance appropriately and approach the concerned officials if they faced any difficulty in receiving the benefits.
