ADM Mangan chairs Meeting on PM Vishwakarma Scheme
Mangan, September 4 (IPR): Additional District Magistrate(ADM) Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa chaired a meeting in Mangan to discuss the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, today. This scheme was launched on September 17 2023, by the Prime Minister, which aims to provide comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople who work with their hands and tools. The scheme covers artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 traditional trades. These 18 traditional trades include:

1. Iron/ Metal Based/ stone Based
- Armourer
- Blacksmith (Lohar)
- Hammer & Tool kit Maker
- Locksmith
- Sculptor (Moortikar, stone Carver, Stone Breaker)
2. Construction/ Architecture/ Clay Based/ Silver Based
- Mason (Rajmishtri)
- Potter (Kumhar)
- Goldsmith (Sunar)
3. Leather Based
-Cobbler (Shoesmith)/Charmarkar
4. Wood Based
- Carpenter (Suthar)
- Boat Maker
- Others
5. Basket/Mat/Broom Maker
- coir weaver
- Doll & Toy Maker (traditional)
- Barber (Naai)
- Garland Maker (Malakar)
- Washerman (Dhobi)
- Tailor (Darzi)
- Fishing Net Maker
Attendees of the meeting included Mr Tashi Wangyal Bhutia BDO Kabi, Mr Kailash Thapa BDO Mangan, Mr K R Limboo ADC-(Dev.), Mr Manas Das Team Leader for PM Vishwakarma (Commerce and Industry Department), Mr Prem Kr Chettri MSME Expert for PM Vishwakarma (Commerce and Industry Department), Mr Poth Tshering Lepcha, representative from Dzongu and representatives from the IT Department and Rural Development Department.
The benefits of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme are as follows:
1. Recognition:Beneficiaries will receive a certificate and ID card under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
2. Training and Stipend:The scheme offers 15 days or more of advanced training with a stipend of ₹500 per day, a transport allowance of ₹1,000, and 5-7 days of basic training followed by skill verification.
3. Toolkit Incentive:Beneficiaries will receive a toolkit incentive of ₹15,000 through an e-voucher or E-RUPI.
The Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- The minimum age of the beneficiary should be 18 years as of the date of registration.
- Persons in government service and their family members are not eligible under the scheme.
- The scheme is intended for artisans or craftspeople engaged in one of the 18 traditional family-based trades.
The required documents to avail the scheme are listed under:
