Gangtok, 20th September (IPR): A day long Science Carnival was held today at Govt . Sr.Sec .School Rangpo East Sikkim with a theme ” Science and Technology for Sustainable Development”.

The main objective is to provide hands-on experience and to stimulate interest and curiosity and help them explore. Student from various schools, Higher Technical Institutes had the participation for the Carnival.

The Programme was graced by Hon’ble Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly ,Shri. L. B. Das who was accompanied by Secretary Education Department, Shri. M.T .Sherpa, Director of Primary Education cum SPD, Shri. Bhim Thatal, Joint Director East , Smt. Tsheringkee Chingapa, S.D.M Rangpo sub division Shri.P.K .Rai, teachers escorts,official from various company and students from in an around Rangpo.

On the occasion, Hon’ble Speaker inaugurated the ATAL TINKERING LABORATORY, STUDENTS TOILET, and SMART CLASS CUM E- LIBRARY followed by examining the models prepared by the students.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Unarayan Sharma ,Alumni of the school donated construction cost for a room of 1000 sq.ft for ATL in the memory of his late father.

Similarly toilet of 15 units for girls, 10 urinals & 10 units for boys were constructed by power grid cooperation of India and likewise V-Guard company, unit III. Mamring also donated a Smart class equipment with content,5 desk tops,7 computer tables ,5 library cupboards, 8 library tables and 20 pairs of desk – benches.

Kindergarten Furniture, installation of Biometric attendance system, lab materials, library books and 40 tablets were provided by Samagra Siksha , Education Department, Govt of Sikkim.
One RO water-filter and 50 pairs of desk -benches under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity were sponsored by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Baghey khola.
