78th Independence Day Celebrated at Rorathang
Pakyong, 15 August (IPR): On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day 2024, Mr Bishnu Kumar Sharma, former MLA, graced the celebration as the chief guest at Rorathang Senior Secondary School today.
Additionally, Mr Dushyant Pariyar, Secretary of, the Election Department, served as the Guest of Honour.
With the theme "Viksit Bharat," the event was organised by the Rorathang Social Welfare Association under the Pakyong District and was filled with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
The day commenced with the Chief Guest hoisting the national flag, followed by a rendition of the National Anthem by the students.
Thereafter, the address of the Honourable Governor of Sikkim was read out by Mr Diwas Gautam, Principal of Rorathang Senior Secondary School.
Subsequently, Mr BK Sharma, a teacher at Rorathang Senior Secondary School, read the address of the Honourable Chief Minister of Sikkim.
The chief guest in his address, praised the committee, school community, and other participants for their tireless efforts and contributions to the success of the Independence Day celebration.
He emphasised the importance of investing in educational infrastructure for the benefit of the students and the community as a whole. The chief guest also encouraged everyone present to continue working together towards the betterment of the school and the surrounding area.
Furthermore, the celebration featured performances and activities, including a parade competition, a patriotic dance competition, a traditional dance competition, drills, and kabaddi.
The highlight of the event was the football match between Real Aritar and Challenger Boys Kumrek, where Challenger Boys Kumrek secured 3-1, with their goals sealing the win.
The Man of the Match was Babin Chettri from Challenger Boys Kumrek, and the Best Goalkeeping Award went to Abhisek Chaudary, also from Challenger Boys Kumrek.
The winners received two lakh five thousand rupees along with a trophy, while the runners-up were awarded one lakh five thousand rupees and a trophy.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where the Chief Guest presented certificates and trophies to students for their achievements.
Also present at the event were panchayats, local gentry, police personnel, teachers, students from various schools and the general public.
