77th Republic Day Observed with Patriotic Fervour at Rabong Sub-Division
Namchi, 26 January (IPR): 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the SDM Complex, Ravangla, under Rabong Sub-Division, today.
Minister for Rural Development and Cooperation Departments Government of Sikkim Mr Arun Kumar Upreti, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia MLA Barfung, attended as the Special Guest.
The programme commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Chief Guest, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem.
On the occasion, Mr Saran D Kalikotey, SDM Ravangla, delivered the Republic Day message of the Governor of Sikkim Mr Om Prakash Mathur, while Mr D. P. Dahal, ADC (Development), Ravangla, read out the message of the Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Prem Singh Tamang.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation’s independence and acknowledged their invaluable contribution in shaping the country. He stated that the ideals of patriotism, unity and selfless service upheld by them continue to inspire generations and serve as guiding principles for national progress.
He further highlighted the Government’s firm commitment towards strengthening key sectors such as health, education, entrepreneurship, women empowerment and agricultural development, reiterating the Government’s dedication to inclusive and sustainable growth.
Emphasising the importance of youth development, the Chief Guest stressed the need to focus on life skills, quality education, sports and other constructive pursuits to achieve success. He also appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthier and better society.
As part of the celebrations, students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Ravangla, and NIT Ravangla presented vibrant patriotic cultural performances, adding colour and spirit to the programme.
