558 beneficiaries from six GPUs under Chongrang BAC receive Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana cheques
Gyalshing, October 4 (IPR): Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries Minister-cum-Yuksam-Tashiding MLA Mr Tshering T Bhutia today distributed financial assistance cheques under Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana to 558 beneficiaries from six Gram Panchayat units under Chongrang BAC in Yuksam-Tashiding constituency today.
The cheque distribution programme was organised by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Chongrang BAC, as part of the statewide implementation of the scheme.
The 558 beneficiaries are among a total of 1,049 beneficiaries covered under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana in Yuksam-Tashiding constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Mr Tshering T Bhutia congratulated the beneficiaries and highlighted the importance of the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana in providing financial support to mothers and strengthening their economic independence. He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilise the assistance meaningfully for their families, livelihood and other essential needs.
The Minister further highlighted that the scheme is an important social welfare initiative of the State Government under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay aimed at extending financial assistance and empowerment to mothers at the grassroots level.
Minister also reiterated the State Government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic well-being of the people through various welfare schemes and programmes and stated that eligible mothers would continue to be covered under the scheme.
Earlier, BDO Chongrang Ms Geeta Gurung, in her keynote address, briefed the gathering on the scheme and its provisions.
Also present were Chief Minister’s Advisor Mr GM Lepcha, Chairperson, Sikkim Consumer Cooperative Department Ms Shanti Limboo, BDO Chongrang Ms Geeta Gurung, CLC President Mr Nandu Gurung, Gyalshing District Social Wing President Mr Amar Gurung, Panchayat Inspector Mr BS Subba, Inspector, Food & Civil Supplies Department Mr Narendra Rai, along with Zilla and Gram Panchayat members and a large number of beneficiaries.
