33rd Nepali Language Recognition Day observed with enthusiasm in Yangang

Yangang, 20 August 2024: The 33rd Nepali Language Recognition Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and enthusiastic atmosphere organized by Rooster Literary Forum at the auditorium of Yangangang Senior Secondary School. Rajkumari Thapa, Former Press Secretary Mr. Bikas Basnet, Politician & Social Worker Mr. RK Basnet, Politician & Writer Mr. Krishna Lepcha, Writer Mr. Navin Dahal, Writer, Journalist, Literature Mr. Parashu Dhakal, Educationalist Dr. KL Dabri, SDM Yangang Mr. KL Dahal, BDO Yangangang Mr. Kumar Subba, former District President Mr. CL Gurung, Principal of Yangang School Mr. Pushparaj Dhungel, former Women Coordinator Mrs. Dankila Bhutia, former CLC President Mr. Tangayla Namka, District Panchayat, Panchayat members, teachers, students, and members of Bhaledhunga Literary Forum were present.
The event was organized with the eco-friendly objective on this occasion. While single-use plastic was banned, a flower button was used as a garland. Also, the organizing committee for the symbol of love presented the pen to the participants.
The program started with lighting the lamp, the president of Bhaledhunga Literary Forum, Shri PL Dangal gave a welcome speech. Dr. as a literary speech KL Dawadi and Shri Krishna Lepcha presented their views while poets Shri RS Bhandari, Shri Alok Gurung, and Lochan Bhandari recited poems. The students also organized colourful cultural dances, quiz competitions, and interaction competitions.
Today's speaker Shri Krishna Lepcha discussed how the Nepali language has bound different communities in Sikkim in unity. He mentioned that the Nepali language, which is the common language of the people of Sikkim, became the language of the heart of everyone. Also, the honourable Chief Minister Mr. P. S. Under the leadership of Golay also said that the tag of 'foreigners' of Sikkim was completely removed by the Supreme Court decision. Former Press Secretary Mr. Bikas Basnet discusses how constitutional recognition of the Nepali language has strengthened our rights. He states that the language is more intense as the Nepali language can be used as an official communication medium, read and written from school to university level, and included in CBSE and ISC board. He also emphasized that the use of Nepali language is possible in oath-taking, official journalism, and other important topics.
Dr. KL Dawadi highlights the timeline of the Nepali language movement and its historical importance. He discussed the key stages of the language movement, presenting the journey from the beginning of the Nepali language movement to constitutional recognition. According to him, the Nepali language getting constitutional recognition is an important step in preserving our language and culture.
Vice President (Sikkim Legislative Assembly) Mrs. Rajkumari Thapa commemorated people who contributed to the language movement, such as Late Narbahadur Bhandari and Mrs. Dilkumari Bhandari, in her address. He appealed to increase the love of the mother tongue Nepalese and make it the basis of life. Also, the honourable Chief Minister Mr. P. S. Gole thanked Language Day for declaring a state holiday. In this way, Honorable Chief Minister Shri PS Gole expressed his gratitude to the Sikkim Government and Honorable Chief Minister for announcing that all government notifications will now be issued in the Nepali language from the program organized on the occasion of the 33rd Nepali Language Recognition Day.
He emphasized not only limiting Nepali language development in today's program but also loving his language. Mrs. Princess Thapa congratulated the entire organizing committee for organizing such a beautifully literary-focused event and assured full support from the government in advance of the objective of the Bhaledhunga Forum to promote the literature, education, and cultural aspects of the Rangangang-Yangang region.
Chief Guest Professor Dr. Deochandra Subba discusses the constitutional recognition of the Indian Nepali language and the importance it gains. He emphasized the constitutional recognition of the Nepali language strengthened the identity of Nepali speakers across India and succeeded in becoming an official language of India. According to him, the recognition of the Nepali language has contributed significantly not only to the conservation of the language but also to the social, cultural, and educational development of the Nepali community.
At the special moment of the program, Mrs. Princess Thapa and Dr. KL Dabri were honoured for their contribution to literature and social service.
At the conclusion of the program, thanking the organizing committee and all participants, discussed the necessity to strengthen the importance of Nepali Language Recognition Day.
