211th Bhanu Jayanti ceremony concluded at Bhanu Garden in Gantok.
Gangtok , 13 July:
211th Bhanu Jayanti celebrations concluded today at Bhanu Garden in Gantok organized by Nepali Literature Council Sikkim.
Governor Mr. Omprakash Mathur as Chief Guest and Chief Minister Mr. Prem Singh Tamang were present as special guest in the said program.
After the start of the program along with the presentation of Mangalacharan by Panchakanya, Chief guest and special guests, ministers, departmental heads, departmental officers and people present were offered garland to Adikabi Bhanubhakta Acharya.
After this, the president and minister of Bhanu Jayanti celebrations Mr. Pinchonamgyal Lepcha honored with Padmashree Award (G. Es Lama) welcomed the guest in attendance remembering Sanu Lama's contribution to language and literature.
While addressing the program, Chief Guest Governor Mr. Omprakash Mathur paid tribute to Bhanubhakta and recalled the contribution Bhanubhakta has brought to the development of Nepali language. In this extent, he said that Bhanubhakta Acharya is a symbol of immortality in the Nepali literature world, Bhanu Jayanti is not just a cultural festival but also a festival of unity in the entire Nepali society. He also said that we will all have responsibility for the preservation and promotion of such programs and only the language survives the civilization, tradition and values associated with it will survive. He emphasized Sikkim has its own distinct existence, symbol of unity in diversity and it should be preserved by all. In this context, expressing deep condolences on the sudden demise of late Sanu Lama, his demise also said that his demise suffered irreparable loss to Indian Nepali literature.
Due to the sudden demise of late Sanu Lama, former president of Nepali Literature Council, Sikkim, Padmashree Award, postponed all programs to be organized at the Manan Kendra of Gantok, this year's 211th Bhanu Jayanti celebrations were limited only to the garlanding ceremony of Bhanubhakta in Bhanu Garden.
Thus as other guests in today's program were ministers Mr. Sonam Lama, Mr. Arun Upreti, Mr. Raju Basnet, Mr. Samdup Lepcha, MLA, Loksabha MP Mr. Indrahang Subba, Mayor of Gantok Municipal Corporation Mr. Neel Bahadur Chhetri, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Chhiringpalden Bhotia, Councilor, Newly appointed Advisor, President, Chief Secretary Mr. R Telang, Nepali Literature Council Sikkim President Shri Hari Dhungel, representatives of various organizations and organizations, teachers of different schools and students including others related to language and literature was present.
This is how at the end of the program, Mr. Naveen Lamichhane, Vice President of Nepali Literature Council, Sikkim presented his thanksgiving. Earlier at the beginning of the program, senior writer and writer Late (G) honored by Padmashree Award. Two minutes of silence was conducted by expressing deep condolences on the demise of S) Lama) Sanu Lama.
The Nepali Literature Council has said that this year's 211th Bhanu Prize to be awarded to writer Shri Shankardev Dhakal on the occasion of upcoming Nepali Language Recognition Day.
