2026 Vinod Pradhan Trophy Concludes at Mining Ground

Pakyong, May 05 (IPR): The 2026 Vinod Pradhan Trophy concluded today with the Cricket Association of Tathangchen (CAT) defeating Alpine Sporting Club (ASC) by 34 runs in the final to win the SICA ‘A’ Division title.
Batting first on Day 1, CAT scored 230 runs in 77.3 overs. Lee Yong Lepcha made 49 runs, Parth Palawat scored 46, Aamir Iqbal Bhutia added 38, and Roshan Kumar Prasad made 36. For Alpine SC, Proloy Banerjee took five wickets, and along with Amit Rajera, accounted for nine wickets.
Alpine SC, resuming their innings today, were all out for 196 runs in 66.1 overs. Anwesh K. Sharma scored 105 not out, and Gurinder Singh made 55. Other batters did not reach notable scores.
For CAT, Subham Sharma took 5 wickets for 55 runs. Abhishek Kumar and Akshay Sain took two wickets each.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by MLA Soreng-Chakung Mr Aditya Golay as the Chief Guest, alongside Dr Sunita Pradhan, (Spouse of Late Mr Vinod Pradhan); APS to HCM (Gangtok District), Mr Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha; Chairperson, Culture Department, Mrs Bhim Kumari Sharma; OSD Water Resources Department; Mr Gagan Gurung; Member of Institude of Transforming Sikkim, Mr Neeraj Adhikari, and Mr Mani Kumar Pradhan (brother of Late Shri Vinod Pradhan).
CAT received the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh. Alpine SC received Rs. 2 lakh and a trophy.
Subham Sharma was named Player of the Match. Akshay Sain received the Player of the Tournament award and was the Highest Wicket Taker. Naushad Shaikh of Majhitar Sporting Club was the Highest Scorer.
The tournament included CAT, Alpine SC, Black Eagles, Irises Cricket Club, Pakyong XI, Yuksom Capitals, Majhitar Sporting Club, and JBCC ‘A’. Matches were held at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Mining.
This was the third edition of the tournament in memory of Late Shri Vinod Pradhan. The earlier editions were played in the T20 format. The 2026 edition followed a two-day, 90-overs format.
Late Shri Vinod Pradhan served as President of the Sikkim Cricket Association from 1994–95 to 2002. During his tenure, tournaments such as the Vijay Merchant Trophy and the Cooch Behar Trophy were hosted in 1996–97. The Mining Ground was established as the association’s venue during this period.
