18th Raising Day of 2nd IRBn Celebrated at Pipalay (Soreng District)

Soreng, March 31 (IPR): The 18th Raising Day of the 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) Pipalay was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in Sikkim's journey of 50 years of Statehood. The event was graced by the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, as the Chief Guest.
In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the 2nd IRBn Pipalay for their unwavering dedication and commendable service in maintaining law and order in the state. He praised their tireless commitment to public safety and recognized their vital contributions to the state’s progress. Furthermore, he urged the Sikkim Police to organize a grand event to celebrate Sikkim's 50 years of statehood, encouraging spirited participation from all stakeholders.
Mr. Tamang also highlighted pivotal government initiatives aimed at uplifting the police force, such as the Children Education Allowance to ensure quality education for their families. Citing literacy rate data, he acknowledged the strides made in education while stressing the need for further progress in improving literacy levels across the district.
Turning to development, he announced several forthcoming developmental projects set to enhance infrastructure and boost tourism in the region.
The Chief Minister concluded his speech by reaffirming the government’s unwavering commitment to development, education, and community welfare, urging collective efforts to achieve these goals.
Addressing the gathering, Director General of Police (DGP) Mr Akshay Sachdeva commended the battalion’s dedication to duty, discipline, and service. He highlighted their significant contributions in maintaining law and order, disaster response, and counter-insurgency operations. Reaffirming Sikkim Police's focus on modernization and welfare, the DGP shared the Vision 2025 initiative, emphasizing holistic physical fitness for the force. He congratulated the battalion for completing 18 years of exemplary service and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of integrity while adapting to evolving challenges.
The 18th Raising Day celebrations featured a variety of engaging and culturally rich activities showcasing the discipline and versatility of the 2nd IRBn Pipalay:

- Sarvadharma Bhajan
- Silent Drill by IRBn Jawans
- Anti-Terror Operation Drill
- Band Display by the Sikkim Police Band
- Khukuri Dance by IRBn Jawans
The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including MLAs, Chairpersons, Advisors, Upa Adakshya Soreng District, Councillors NJNP, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayat Members, and senior police officials such as Mr. Akshay Sachdeva (DGP), Mr. Arjun Kumar Tamang (Commandant Officer, 2nd IRBn), IGPs, DIGPs, SSPs, SPs, DSPs, Officers and officials.
The celebration not only honored the exceptional contributions of the 2nd IRBn Pipalay but also underscored Sikkim Police's commitment to promoting sports, culture, and operational excellence, ensuring continued progress and safety for the state.
