18th Lt. LD Kazi Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament Enters Sixth Day at Chakung Playground
Soreng, November 4 (IPR): The sixth day of the 18th Lt. LD Kazi Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament continued today at Chakung Playground, Soreng District. The tournament, organised to commemorate 50 years of Sikkim’s Statehood, stands as a symbol of pride, unity, and the enduring sporting spirit of the people of Sikkim.
The day’s event was graced by Chairman (SBS) Mr DB Gurung as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Mr Gurung expressed his gratitude to MLA (Soreng-Chakung) and Patron of the Organising Committee, Mr Aditya Golay, and the Organising Committee for the invitation. He highlighted the remarkable contributions of Lt. LD Kazi, the first Chief Minister of Sikkim, who played a pivotal role in introducing democracy in the state and contributed immensely to its socio-political development.
He also extended his appreciation to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, and the Government of Sikkim for providing a strong platform to the youth through sports. Concluding his address, he conveyed best wishes to the Organising Committee and expressed optimism that the next edition of the tournament would be celebrated on an even grander scale.
