156th Gandhi Jayanti Observed in Pakyong with District and Sub-Divisional Participation
Pakyong, October 2 (IPR): Gandhi Jayanti was observed in Pakyong District Administrative Centre along with all the Sub-Divisional Offices of Rangpo & Rongli to mark the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme was organised under the supervision of the district administration, with the participation of government officials, staff.
At the district headquarters, Father of the Nation was paid tributes by garlanding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. The event began with a brief introduction on the significance of Gandhi Jayanti, followed by collective pledge to uphold the values of truth, peace, and non-violence.
Similar programmes were conducted simultaneously in all the Sub-Divisional Offices of the district. Officers and staff in the respective subdivisions assembled to offer floral tributes and to recall the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi in India’s freedom struggle and nation-building.
The observance also included cleanliness drives in office premises and nearby public areas, carried out as part of the Swachhata campaign in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness. Awareness messages on non-violence, unity, and community service were also shared during the programmes.
