“Gram Sabha” has been organised as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2021
Sikkim, October 28, 2021: The Vigilance Awareness Week-2021 is being observed from 26.10.2021 to 01.11.2021 throughout the country under the direction and supervision of the Central Vigilance Commission, the apex anti-corruption body in India. The theme of Vigilance Awareness Week-2021 is “Independent India @ 75: Self Reliance with Integrity”. As part of this program, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Sikkim Unit has organized a “Gram Sabha” on 28.10.2021 in the meeting Hall of Rey Mendu GPU, Ranka, Sikkim.
At the outset of the programme, Shri J. Kole, Director Sikkim, DoT welcomed all the participants. He explained the background and purpose of conducting Vigilance Awareness Week as per CVC mandate.
All the participants present in the “Gram sabha” had taken Integrity Pledge meant for Citizens.
About 50 people including the Gram Panchayat members, villagers, officials from Ranka Block Development office and DoT had participated in the Vigilance Awareness Programme.
During his speech, Shri Renchen Leapcha, President, Raymendu GPU urged all villagers and other participants to remain vigilant against corrupt practices. He requested them to spread awareness against corruptions.
Shri N Murali Krishna, DDG Sikkim, DoT in his concluding remarks explained about the provisions of preventive vigilance and punitive vigilance in Dept/Organisations. He appealed to all the participants to remain vigilant about corruption in all spheres of life and requested the participants to lodge complaint with the appropriate authority whenever any corruption instance comes into their notice. He also mentioned that every organizations do display the details of designated authority with whom the complaint can be lodged. He explained the idea behind the introduction of PIDPI resolutions and told that the identity of complainant would remain confidential under “Public Interest Disclosure and Protection of Informers (PIDPI)”.
