'Poshan Panchayat' at Patuk Singbel GPU
Gangtok, March 25: To observe the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada 2021, Singtam Rural Project (East) under Social Justice and Welfare Department organised 'Poshan Panchayat' at Patuk Singbel GPU, East District, today.
During the programme, the objectives of the fortnight were highlighted and encouraged the community and the local self-government for JAN BHAGHIDARI for making this programme a people’s movement to eradicate malnutrition from the village. The members of the GPU along with the community pledged to make this GPU a healthy and malnutrition free GPU.
The programme also saw demonstrations of the following healthy recipe was also organised namely, Banana Pancake, mixed vegetable pancake, til ko laddu with gur (jaggery), Buckwheat( phapar) ko khuri with churpi, raayo saag and butter filling, and Methi sprout salad.
On the occasion, Poshan Nanglo (‘tray of food’) was also displayed which were prepared of seven complimentary food items that are locally available. The aim of Poshan Nanglo was to reinforce minimum dietary diversity in line with the standardised IYCF promotion. This was conceptualised by Team Singtam, which was used to encourage the display of seven food groups (grains, roots and tubers; legumes and nuts; dairy products; meat and fish products; eggs; vitamin A-rich fruits and vegetables; other fruits and vegetables) for the purpose of demonstration of a nutritious recipe for children, pregnant and lactating mothers at Patuk Singbel GPU, under Singtam Rural Project, East District today during Poshan Pakhwada 21.
