"SUTO and ADC Development Join Hands to Drive Agricultural Growth and Eco-Tourism in Sikkim

Pakyong, April 03 (IPR): The Office of Additional District Collector (Development), in collaboration with Sikkim United Tourism Organisation (SUTO), launched the Connect Earth, “Sweat Contribution Centre” initiative , at the premises of Rurban Complex, Pakyong today.
Connect Earth initiative aims to promote human connection with nature by serving it to be a hub for nature lovers, where individuals and families can reserve small plots of land for cultivation under a membership program.
ADC Development, Mr Robin Pd Sewa, apprised that after the successful implementation of Friday Field Day: Mission Revival of Barren Land for Cultivation, which aims to focus on revitalising barren lands for agriculture, a new initiative has been introduced jointly by the Office of Additional District Collector (Development) and SUTO, “Connect Earth, “Sweat Contribution Centre”” to promote human connection with the nature.
He shared detailed information on the various facilities offered by the project Connect Earth, including mental and physical health benefits of nature; food security and household-level organic farming; business advantages and promoting tourism and economy.
In addition, he stressed on the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and informed that the centre will incorporate outdoor learning experiences, such as organic farming, planting activities and nature-based workshops to combat the issue. Adding to it, he stated that these experiences would foster creativity, develop problem-solving skills and enhance emotional intelligence among children, further helping them in their overall development.
Further, he emphasised the five elements of Earth and urged to be connected with the elements to transform and lead a positive life.
A formal handover ceremony was also held for the adoption of land under Namcheybong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) to SUTO, marking the beginning of a new partnership between the two entities, aimed at driving agricultural development and growth in the region.
SUTO's adoption of the land under Namcheybong GPU would be focused on transformative initiatives while empowering local communities and promoting eco-friendly tourism, economic growth and nature conservation.
