Gangtok, 19 Oct (IPR): The 19th Convocation of Sikkim Manipal University was held on today at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Sikkim Manipal University in 5th Mile, Tadong.

Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad, who is also the Chancellor of SMU, presided over the function along with Shri Indra Hang Subba, Member of Parliment, Lok Sabha and Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister for Education, Land Revenue, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim as the chief guest for the convocation function.

Apart from them, Dr M.K. Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of Health, Government of Sikkim, Shri Rajendra Padukone, Hon’ble Pro Chancellor, SMU, Shri G.P. Upadhyaya, ACS, Education Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri K. Sreenivasulu, Principal Secretary, Health Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri Vaitheeswaran, Group CEO, MEMG, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, SMU, Prof. (Dr.) Karma Sonam Sherpa, Registrar, SMU, Dr. Ashish Sharma, Director, SMIT, Dr. V.K. Mehta, Dean, SMIMS, distinguished invitees, members of the SMU Governing Council, Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Academic Senate, Faculty/ Staff Members, Parents, Graduating Students were also present.

There were 620 graduates from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology and 387 from Medical Camp, SMIMS.

The convocation was marked by the release of Annual Report by the Governor/Chancellor and the Vice Chancellor presented the awards to the graduates and PhD Degrees.

The Dean, SMIMS presented awards to graduates degrees of MBBS, MD, MS, BSc, MSc & Post BSc Nursing, BPT, MPT, Medical MSc, MHA, BSc, MLT, BSC Medical Biotechnology and administered Hippocratic Oath to MBBS Graduates.

The Director SMIT also presented degree award to the graduates of BTech, MTech, BCA, MCA, BBA, MBA, MSc, BA, MA, BCom & MCom and the Registrar SMU administered Common Oath to the graduates.
