Incessant rains of 24th-25th September has caused a number of landslides in Gyalshing district particularly at Arithang Chongrang

Incessant rains of 24th-25th September has caused a number of landslides in Gyalshing district particularly at Arithang Chongrang, Gerethang, Gangyap, Tinziring, Tashiding and other places. Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Shri Sangay Lepcha, accompanied by District Collector Gyalshing made a visit of affected areas on Sunday, 25th September. Besides drains getting washed out and roads getting blocked with mud slips, around fifteen houses have been damaged causing a few to be evacuated to temporary shelters. The landslides have led to loss of animal lives and crop damage. Others present in the inspection were BDO Chongrang, Panchayats and field functionaries.
The DC also visited the Gram Prashasan Kendra, Tashiding on the invitation of the Panchayat members where they updated her with all the present works and certain challenges of the GPU.
Later the DC made a visit to the EMRS school at Gangyap. As Chairman of the school management, she took some time out, on behalf of the management and the district, to felicitate the Principal EMRS on being awarded the National Award for Teachers
