Gangtok, 29th March (IPR) : A meeting under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 Scheme was conducted regarding Destination Management Committee (DMC) chaired by District Collector Gangtok, Shri. Tushar Nikhare at his chamber today.
The discussion also had the presence of Shri. Tenzing Loden Lepcha, IPS, SP- Gangtok.
The meeting was regarding the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 Scheme which is on the second phase of implementation and it relates to developing infrastructure and consolidation of development of theme based Tourist circuits.
The integration of the scheme was done by Tourism and Civil Aviation Department. It had the presence of Shri. Pratap Gautam, Additional Chief Engineer of the department.
The discussion during the meeting included ideas and proposals of laser and light shows to attract high level tourist value which will foster competitiveness and sustainability in an integrated manner. He also mentioned about project showcasing and emphasizing on organic food and eco- tourism to attract more tourists.
On the sidelines, the District Collector also chaired the 6th Meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee on Food Safety for Gangtok District simultaneously.
DC Gangtok, Shri Tushar Nikhare IAS, who is also the chairman of the committee took the review of implementation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, in Gangtok District which included coordination with other line departments and other IEC activities.
The meeting also had the presence of ADC, (ADM) Shri. Hemant Rai.
The details regarding the activities of FSSA Cell was presented by Smt. Pratima Ghimiray, Food Safety Officer.
The discussion had the presence of HODs from different departments, including, Skill Development, Agriculture Department and Tourism and Aviation Department.
Shri. Nikhare also requested the committee to focus on programmes in rural areas with activities such as joint inspection, short videos for sensitization and timely update of activities in the social media platforms belonging to the concerned departments.
He also requested to link social media activities with District Administration Centre.
In his concluding remark, the DC requested the line departments to provide details about different activities taking place in Gangtok District
