Gangtok, May 19 (DDMA): Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rabdang, Mr Roshan Subba, SCS, along with the concerned Panchayat member and representatives from GREF and Shivalik Company, visited Zang Village today to assess the situation following the overflowing of Tintek Khola on the night of May 15, 2026.
The team inspected the affected area where water had entered residential houses, resulting in major cracks and structural damage to the properties. The site had earlier been inspected by the concerned Block Development Officer (BDO) and Panchayat representatives.
As part of the immediate relief measures, tarpaulin sheets and other essential assistance have already been provided to the affected family. The family has also been advised to temporarily shift to a safer rented accommodation, for which the Shivalik Company has assured necessary arrangements.
During the visit, officials interacted with the affected residents and local Panchayat representatives to take stock of the situation and discuss further measures for ensuring safety and rehabilitation.
The District Administration has assured all possible support and assistance to the affected family. In this regard, a meeting with the affected residents and Panchayat representatives has been scheduled on May 22, 2026, at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, to deliberate on the matter and discuss the way forward.
