Cutting and Tailoring Training Programme Conducted Under RAMP Scheme

The Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with Kunsel Creation successfully inaugurated and organized a Cutting and Tailoring Training Programme at the community hall of Mendogaon GPK, under Soreng District today. The initiative is being conducted under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The inaugural programme waa attended by Panchayat member Shri. Dilip Gurung, GM, DIC (Soreng) Smt. Anula Gurung, Master Trainer and Proprietor Kunsel Creations Smt. Binita Gurung alongside DIC, Soreng Inspectors under Soreng Chakung constituency.
The training aims to empower local youth and women with practical skills in cutting and tailoring, thereby enhancing their employability and encouraging entrepreneurship in Soreng district. Participants received theoretical as well as hands-on training from skilled professionals, with a focus on both traditional and contemporary tailoring techniques.
Over the next four weeks, 20 trainees will undergo a structured, hands-on curriculum designed to provide both foundational and advanced tailoring knowledge. This initiative forms part of the broader efforts by Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Sikkim to promote skill development and self-reliant livelihoods, especially among rural and semi-urban populace.
The program also saw an interaction session wherein the participants exchanged their opinions and expectations from the training. “We are truly thankful to the Commerce and Industries Department for bringing this training to our doorstep. It’s a life-changing opportunity for many of us,” said Sangita Rai, a trainee. This training programme is part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to promote skill development and self-reliance among rural communities, in alignment with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
