The celebration of Veer Baal Diwas, 2024, was observed with great enthusiasm in the Child Care Institutions (CCls) of Namchi District organised by District Child Protection Unit, Women & Child Development Department on 24th December 2024 with over more than 80 children participating in various competitions.
The event aimed to provide a platform for children to showcase their talents and to uplif their spirits. The participating CCIs included:
1. Kapinzal Children Home, Ravangla
2. Mayal Layang Children Home, Namchi
3. Turuk Children Home, Mangalbarey
4. Manjusha Open Shelter Home, Namchi
5. Suraksha Open Shelter Home, Namchi
The activities conducted for the celebration included
1. Essay Competition
2. Painting Competition
3. Poem Competition
4. Debate
5. Dance
6. Story Telling
Theme of the Activities
All activities adhered to the theme provided by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Delhi: "Veerta - as any act of kindness, resilience, and courage displayed by the children." This ensured a uniform approach to celebrating the day and reinforcing the values of the event. The theme also highlighted the importance of celebrating the everyday bravery and compassion of children. By showcasing their acts of kindness, resilience, and courage, the theme seeks to instill a sense of pride and recognition among the children. Master Ayush Ranjan, a student from East Sikkim, has been accorded with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Puraskar, 2021 for his excellence in the field of innovation.
15-year-old Ayush Ranjan from Rangpo in Sikkim has developed over 10 Google Play Store Apps with over a million users. DigiSmart Bin, Garbage Billing Platform, Mushroom Arc, Auto LPG
Refilling are among his brilliant innovation.
Ayush is also known as Serial Innovator from Sikkim' and he won awards like INSPIRE, The Technophiles & Kalam Drishti
His achievement served as an inspiring example for children of the CCIs emphasizing that age or background need not limit their potential. The story encouraged them to pursue their passions, think creatively, and make meaningful contributions to society, just like Ayush did, reminding them that with hard work and innovation, anything is possible.
