Social Welfare Minister participates in Plantation Drive at Destitute Home
Gangtok, June 5: World Environment Day was observed with great enthusiasm at Lee Aal Destitute Home, Upper Rakdong, East Sikkim today.
The programme included a gardening activity and an awareness discussion on environmental conservation. The event highlighted the importance of protecting nature and creating a cleaner and greener environment for future generations.
The programme was graced by Hon'ble Minister for Social Welfare Department Shri Samdup Lepcha. Also present were Social Welfare Department Principal Director-cum-Secretary Smt Normit Lepcha, other dignitaries, staff of the Social Welfare Department, Anganwadi staff, and local residents.
During the programme, the importance of environmental protection and community participation was discussed. The participants actively took part in the gardening activities and expressed their commitment to preserving nature.
On the occasion, Hon'ble Minister Shri Samdup Lepcha assured every possible support to Lee Aal Destitute Home. He interacted with the Centre incharge and the residents and took note of their requirements. He stated that the Government of Sikkim is committed to helping people during difficult times. He added that the people of Sikkim appreciate the dedication, kindness, and continuous effort of the Government towards the welfare of society. The compassionate service continues to bring hope and support to many families across the state.
