Site Inspection of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Acclimatisation Centre-1

A site inspection of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Acclimatisation Centre-1 at 18th Mile was conducted today by PCE-cum-Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mr Neeraj Pradhan; PCE, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Ms Shanti Tamang; and Principal Chief Executive Officer, STDC, Mr Gyurmee Yousal, along with senior officers and officials of Tourism and Civil Aviation Department and Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation, and the project contractor.
The acclimatisation centre is spread across 2.02 hectares and is located at an altitude of 10,000 ft. The total cost of the project is Rs 4,223 lakh. The project is funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, and implemented by the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim. Construction of the project commenced on February 14, 2018, and was completed on February 28, 2026.
The project features four two-bedded units and two five-bedded units, along with an infirmary, a dining-cum-kitchen facility, and an office-cum-infirmary. The centre has a total accommodation capacity of 126 beds.
A puja was also conducted at the site for the safe journey of travellers proceeding towards Kailash Parvat. This year, ten batches, each comprising 50 yatris, are scheduled to pass through Nathu La Pass. Registrations will close on May 19, 2026.
