Polling materials dispatched for 24 Martam Rumtek and 27 Gangtok Assembly Constituencies

Gangtok, 20 Oct (IPR): The DEO-cum-Returning Officer, East, Shri Raj Yadav, in the presence of the General Observers for the Bye-Election to Assembly constituencies 24 Martam Rumtek and 27 Gangtok, Shri Susil Kumar Yadav and Mrs. Madhurima Baruah (Sen) along with AROs, authorised election agents of contesting candidates, opened the Strong Room situated at District Administrative Centre in Sichey at 7 am today.

The distribution of polling materials and EVMs to all the polling parties started at 8 AM from the Dispatch Centre established at DAC, Sichey from where all polling parties departed to their respective polling stations.

DEO (East), Shri Raj Yadav, informed that the mock poll will commence at 5:30 AM on the date of poll, 21/10/2019 and the actual poll shall commence at 7:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM.

The Presiding Officer will conduct mock poll at 5 am in their respective Polling Stations which he stressed is a mandatory procedure on Poll day. He also added that the candidates/ their election agents and polling agents are also allowed to be present for the Mock Poll in their respective Polling Stations.

He added that 102 police personals are deployed for two constituencies where as six Sikkim Armed Polices (SAP) personnel are deployed in six critical polling stations under 24 Martam Rumtek constituency.

Further, he informed that Sector Magistrates have been provided with ECIL engineers and Reserve Machines to tackle any problem that may arise during the poll day.

Dry days have been declared throughout the state w.e.f 19th October 2019, 5 PM till 5 AM of 21st October 2019.
