Namchi District Inter-Department Football Tournament 2026 Fixtures Draw Conducted
Namchi, June 8 (IPR): A meeting of team captains and representatives of participating departments for the Namchi District Inter-Department Football Tournament 2026 was held at the DAC Conference Hall, Namchi, today under the chairmanship of the District Collector, Namchi, Ms. Anupa Tamling. The meeting was convened by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Namchi.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director Sports and Youth Affairs Department Mr Basant Pradhan and representatives from various government departments who confirmed their participation in the tournament scheduled to commence from June 10, 2026. A total of 20 teams from different government departments will be participating in this year’s edition of the tournament.
During the programme, officials briefed the participants on the rules, regulations, and format of the competition. The tournament will be conducted in a league-cum-knockout format, with the participating teams divided into four pools comprising five teams each. The draw of fixtures was subsequently conducted, through which the match schedule and tournament brackets were finalized in the presence of all team representatives.
It was informed that strict eligibility norms will be enforced during the tournament. Players representing departments must belong to the respective department and be posted within Namchi district. Any team found fielding players from outside the district or from departments other than the one they represent will be liable for disqualification.
The tournament, being organized for the third time this year, aims to promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie among government employees while encouraging greater participation in sporting activities. The initiative has steadily grown in popularity and has become a significant platform for fostering inter-departmental cooperation and healthy competition.
The final match of the tournament is scheduled to be held on June 25, 2026.
The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs also expressed appreciation to all participating departments for their cooperation and enthusiasm and wished all teams success in the upcoming tournament.
