MoS Ajay Tamta Chairs Review Meeting on Key Road Infrastructure Projects in Sikkim

Gangtok, June 5 (IPR): A review meeting on the ongoing road infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and the State Public Works Department (PWD) was chaired by the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Mr Ajay Tamta, at a local hotel in Gangtok today.
The meeting was organised by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), Regional Office, Gangtok, under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India.
The meeting focused on reviewing and monitoring the progress of various infrastructure projects being implemented by the Government of India in the State. Addressing the gathering, Mr Ajay Tamta highlighted several road connectivity projects planned for the region and reviewed the progress achieved so far in improving road infrastructure.
He also deliberated on the State's future road development roadmap and underscored the Central Government's commitment to strengthening connectivity across Sikkim.
Emphasising the strategic importance of seamless transportation networks, he stated that sustained efforts are being undertaken to improve road conditions and ensure uninterrupted connectivity of the State with the National Highway network.
The Minister further reviewed the status of key road projects and discussed measures to expedite their implementation. He stressed the importance of timely completion of infrastructure works to facilitate better connectivity, enhance mobility, and support the socio-economic development of the State.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Roads and Bridges Department, Mr N.B. Dahal, Secretary, Public Works Department, Government of Sikkim, Mr A.B. Subba, Executive Director (Projects), NHIDCL Regional Office, Gangtok, Mr Ashok Kumar Saha, Private Secretary to the Minister of State, MoRTH, Mr Nikhil Saraswat, representatives of the BRO and other dignitaries.
