Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma visits Fenglakha Ram Banvas Center

Gyalshing, 4th December,2019 (IPR):The Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency Shri Lok Nath Sharma led the Joint inspection visit to Fenglakha Ram Banavas centre through a trekking trail at the core of Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, along with the District heads and officials of line departments, West District, today.

The inspection team was comprising of more than sixty members including Block Development Officer Dentam BAC Shri Bijay Subba, Superintendent Engineer Power Deptt. Shri Sonam Dorjee Bhutia, Divisional Engineer,Tourism Deptt Shri DP Sharma; Divisional Forest Officer / Wildlife Ms. Nisha Subba, Assistant Conservator of Forest Mrs Urmilla Subba, Range Officer Dentam Rajeev Gurung, Block Officer Shri Pujan Tamang, Deputy Director Fisheries Shri Lobsang Tamang, Divisional Engineer Roads & Bridges Shri Phurba Bhutia, Assistant Engineer Rural Development Department Shri Dipendra Adhikari, Assistant Engineer Building &Housing Karandeep Baraily, officials, field staff and others.

The inspection team began its trekking at 8.45am from Dorak Bijanbari/Hee Patal and reached Fenglakha Ram Banavas centre at 10:20am covering distances of 4.5 KM with joy of contemplation to make the spot more presentable and functional at the earliest.

After reaching the Ram Banavas centre minister Sharma minutely visited existing infrastructure of two Banavas hut, meditation centre, cafeteria, traditional houses of different communities, barracks etc. While the structure were found neglected in terms of maintenance after completion of construction work in 2017 and further he stressed for immediate repair and restoration of required renovation work.

Thereafter, minister chaired a meeting to sought out the existing issues and urged concerned departments to submit concept report in order to prepare a comprehensive master plan for execution of works in integrated approach of all departments.

While interacting with the officials and public, Minister Sharma directed concerned departments to gear up for execution of work within a month and assured to sought out issues of fund constraints.

He directed the Road and Bridges for construction of road and Power Department for laying of three phase underground cable of 11 KV, installation of street lights along with roadway and installation of transformer at the centre.

Minister urged Tourism Deptt. for beautification of road with the establishment of numerous attraction point of adventurous tourism, new construction of Bridle road for horse riding, repair and restoration of existing structure, landscaping and display of wild flowers at Ram Banavas complex, improvement of trekking route from Barsey to Ram Banavas premises.

Rural Development Department was directed to ensure water supply with the construction of rain water harvesting tank. He articulated on naturally blessed potential of the region and urged for community participation and further shared his vision to transform Ram Banavas as one of the popular tourist destination at international level for nature lovers and tourists. He also advised to exhibit cultural and traditional symbols of all communities.

Earlier, ACF Smt. Urmilla Subba proposed welcome address and drew lights on the purpose and objective of the joint inspection. She said that the Banavas centre couldn’t generate revenue despite of huge investment and touched upon the true leadership of the Minister Sharma and articulated his effort with pressing concern and deep interest to make the destination functional with the introduction of new components.
