Minister Buildings and Housing and Labour Departments Chairs Final Preparatory Meeting for 79th Independence Day Celebration at Gyalshing

Gyalshing, July 31 (IPR): A final preparatory meeting for the celebration of 79th Independence Day 2025 in Gyalshing District was convened today under the chairmanship of Minister for Buildings and Housing and Labour Departments Mr Bhim Hang Subba at Conference Hall of Zilla Bhawan, Kyongsa.
The meeting was attended by District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, Superintendent of Police Mr Tshering Sherpa, Commandant 36th Battalion SSB Mr Sanjeev Kumar, ADC (Development) Mr Surat Kumar Gurung, SDM Gyalshing Mr Sandesh Subba along with Heads of Departments, representatives from banks, various private companies, and Yangthang Sporting Club.
In his address, Minister Bhim Hang Subba emphasised that this year’s Independence Day celebration should be themed around the commemoration of 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. He informed that the celebration will commence from tomorrow and urged all departments and stakeholders to ensure collective participation to make the event a grand success. The Minister also highlighted areas requiring urgent attention and called on the concerned departments to initiate prompt action. He appealed to all officials to approach the celebration with seriousness and dedication.
The District Collector Mr Denzongpa, in his remarks, stressed the importance of wholehearted involvement from every department. He followed up on the responsibilities assigned to departments and gave necessary reminders for execution. The District Collector also finalized the activities for the celebration and announced the formation of Independence Day Celebration Committee and Sports Committee. He issued strict instructions to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the process.
Responsibilities for daily activities were delegated among district officers. Emphasis was laid on maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in and around the event venues. Nominations were also welcomed for meritorious service awards to be presented during the Independence Day function.
Following this, the meeting was opened for suggestions and discussions, wherein various operational and logistic matters were deliberated and resolved through consensus.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
