Gangtok, Dec 5: (IPR) The Department of Information & Public Relations has started a unique initiative of rewarding hard working and efficient employees of the Department every month. The Department recently constituted a Committee headed by Secretary, IPR Department to examine and recommend the name of a deserving employee as the ‘Employee of the Month’. The Award is based on parameters such as punctuality, sincerity, integrity, and approach towards responsibility assigned, initiatives /innovative ideas and overall contribution of an employee to the Department.

On the basis of the recommendation of the Committee, Cameraperson Shri N.B. Chettri was felicitated with the ‘Employee of the Month’ Award by the Secretary, officers and staff of IPR Department today in the office of the Secretary.

Secretary, IPR Department, Ms. Namrata Thapa presented khada and Certificate to Shri. N.B. Chettri and officially declared him the ‘Employee of the Month’ for December, 2019. The Secretary in her address congratulated Shri. N.B. Chettri for being the first recipient of the Award. She said that Shri. Chettri was the first choice for the Award because of his diligence and hard work and valuable contribution to the Department, even beyond the duty hours.The Secretary further said that the Award is being initiated to encourage all the employees to perform to the best of their capacities, and give them due recognition for their performance. She added that the Award would be a regular feature of the Department and urged everyone to excel in their work.

Earlier, Under Secretary, IPR Department, Shri. Gideon Lepcha read out a brief profile of Shri N.B. Chettri.

Shri. N.B. Chettri has a long unblemished record of performing his duties and is known to cover all important functions of the State Government. He has shouldered the responsibilities at the District Information Centre (North) during his posting from 1985 to 1997. He has also taken initiatives in conducting Photography/Videography training in the Department as Instructor. He is known for his dutifulness, multi-tasking abilities and sense of responsibility and is said to have never shied away from his duties even during odd hours and on Government holidays. Due to retire from service in May 2020, Shri. N.B. Chettri has rendered thirty-seven and half years of service in the Department. He is known for his amiable personality and is often found sharing his vast knowledge with his contemporaries and juniors.

In his brief address, Shri. N.B. Chettri expressed his gratitude to the Secretary for initiating the Award and to the Committee for selecting him as the ‘Employee of the Month’. While sharing his experiences of working in the field, he said that he has always taken the numerous challenges in his stride and moved ahead with the sole intention of accomplishing the assigned duty. He said that he valued this award because it was initiated by IPR Department where he has served throughout his career. He also shared some words of advice for the upcoming officers and staff of the Department and wished them the best in their career.

The programme had the presence of Director, IPR Department, Smt. Kincho Doma Lepcha, and officers and staff of the Department.
