Gangtok, 10 Jun (IPR): A meeting chaired by Hon’ble Minister of Energy & Power and Labour Departments, Mr. Mingma N. Sherpa, with the officials of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. was held on 9th June at Jalipool Power Grid Guest House.

The meeting held with an objective to review and take stock of the power distribution system in the State of Sikkim under Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission & Distribution System had the presence of Executive Director Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Mr. N.K. Ohdar, Senior General Manager (Rangpo station), Mr. C. Nandi, Deputy G.M. (Tokal station), Mr. H. Jena, G.M. (Gangtok station), Mr. S.K. Purokyastha, and Chief Manager (Mangan station), Mr. H.P. Gurung, alongside Engineers deputed at Power Grid Corporation.

The Minister reviewed the status of affairs of all Power Grid Corporation office set-ups based within Sikkim and thoroughly examined the project status of the ongoing projects in the state. Similarly, assessment and compensation issues, speedy forest clearances in order to resume tower erection and transmission line work, sub-station composition and current vacancies in respective stations were discussed extensively.

Mr. Sherpa also looked into the pressing demands of lack of Field Engineers required for projects across Sikkim and assured all help to resolve genuine matters on a timely manner. He was also apprised about the structure of the High Level Implementation Committee.

A second meeting with the members of the committee in the month of July to discuss the progress of work, status of work undertaken by Power Grid Corporation Sikkim will be pursued, stated the Minister.
