Gyalshing enters the 2nd Day of the 78th Independence Day Celebration at Kyongsa Stadium

Gyalshing, August 4 (IPR): The 78th Independence Day Celebrations entered the second day with grand festivities at Kyongsa Stadium, Gyalshing, today.
The event was graced by Mr. Zamyang Kunga Bhutia, a social worker and government contractor, as the Chief guest. He was accompanied by Mr NB Biswakarma SDM (Gyalshing), Mr PD Bhutia US (LR&DM), Mr Rajesh Thapa Deputy Director (Education), officials of the Education Department, and others.
In his address, the Chief guest expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration and the Yangthang Sporting Club for organizing this significant national event in such a splendid manner. He extended special thanks to the Minister-cum-Area MLA for his unwavering support in all spheres. He also expressed his deepest appreciation to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr PS Tamang Golay for the timely completion of the Kyongsa Stadium, which has created numerous opportunities for budding talents across various disciplines.
Mr. Bhutia emphasized the importance of parental support in nurturing young talents and encouraged parents to actively engage their children in various sports activities.
In a move to motivate new players and honour national-level athletes from the region, Mr. Bhutia proposed naming the Kyongsa Stadium gallery after two distinguished players of the region, Mr Bikash Jairu and Mr Robin Gurung, who has represented the nation on numerous international platforms.
The main highlight of the day was the Men’s invitational football tournament played between the Buildings and Housing Department and Nadong Football Academy Kalimpong. The former team proceeded to the quarterfinals with 8-0 victory. Mr Dorjee Tamang of the Buildings and Housing Department was announced as the man of the match.
The celebrations continued with various cultural and sports activities, showcasing the rich heritage and talent of the region.
