DEO-cum-DC Soreng Holds Meeting with Political Parties on Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls
Soreng, June 20 (IPR): The District Election Officer-cum-District Collector, Soreng, Mr Dhiraj Subedi, convened a meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Additional Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and representatives of political parties at the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Soreng, today.
Addressing the meeting, the DEO-cum-DC highlighted the progress made under the SIR since its commencement and informed that one of the key objectives of the meeting was to discuss and confirm the rationalisation of polling stations across the district. He stated that the four Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Soreng district have proposed a total of 10 new polling stations, four in 05-Rinchenpong AC, two in 06-Daramdin AC, one in 07-Soreng-Chakung AC, and three in 08-Salghari-Zoom AC.
He informed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would be available at their respective polling stations today and tomorrow to facilitate information dissemination and provide assistance regarding the Enumeration Form (EF). He urged representatives of political parties to direct their respective Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to extend necessary support and cooperation to the BLOs during the exercise.
Referring to Enumeration Form (EF) 6, the DEO-cum-DC stressed the importance of disseminating accurate information to the public and cautioned against creating confusion regarding the final submission dates prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
He further elaborated on the preparation of the draft electoral roll and sought active cooperation from political parties throughout the SIR process. Explaining the claims and objections procedure, he informed that the period for filing claims and objections would be from July 5 to August 4, 2026. He also briefed the house on the hearing process and stated that the final publication of the electoral roll is scheduled for September 6, 2026.
During the meeting, the Electoral Registration Officers of Soreng district presented detailed updates on the digitisation of Enumeration Forms and appealed for continued cooperation from political party representatives to ensure the successful completion of the revision process.
The meeting also provided a platform for discussion and clarification of queries related to the Special Intensive Revision.
