Chairman of Agriculture and Horticulture Board Chairs Preparatory Meeting for Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana at Soreng
Soreng, July 30 (IPR): Chairman of the Agriculture and Horticulture Board, Mr CK Rana, chaired a preparatory meeting for the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana (SASY) at the Rurban Complex, Soreng, under the guidance of the MLA of Soreng-Chakung Constituency, Mr Aditya Golay.
Addressing the gathering, Mr CK Rana lauded the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, for introducing the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening the socio-economic well-being of mothers across the state. He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that women, particularly mothers from vulnerable sections of society, receive the support and recognition they deserve.
He also highlighted the objectives of the ‘Bahini Yojana’, stating that the state government has consistently introduced people-centric welfare initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of women. Referring to the introduction of the Pink City Runner Bus in Gangtok, he said the service has been launched to provide women with safer and more convenient public transportation. He emphasized that the government remains dedicated to creating opportunities for women by enhancing their access to welfare schemes, healthcare, education, transportation, and economic empowerment.
Mr CK Rana urged all concerned departments, Panchayat representatives, and officials to work in close coordination to ensure the successful implementation of the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana. He stressed the importance of identifying genuine beneficiaries and ensuring that the benefits of the scheme reach every eligible mother without delay.
ADC (Development), Mr Ongdi Sherpa, called upon all Ward Panchayats to carry out a thorough verification of eligible beneficiaries under the scheme. He explained the eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and verification process in detail, emphasizing that transparency and accuracy would be essential for the smooth implementation of the programme. He encouraged Panchayat members to conduct awareness drives within their respective wards so that eligible beneficiaries are well informed about the scheme and its application process.
CDPO Soreng, Ms Gauri Tamang, gave a detailed presentation on the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana, explaining that its primary objective is to extend financial and social support to mothers who have not been able to avail themselves of benefits under existing government welfare programmes. She elaborated on the eligibility norms, required documents, and the procedure for enrollment, while encouraging eligible women to take advantage of the initiative.
Senior Welfare Officer, Ms Prativa Tamang, briefed the gathering on the National Scholarship Portal and highlighted the various scholarship schemes available for students, including the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarships. She explained the eligibility conditions, documentation requirements, and application procedures for the schemes. She further informed participants that all scholarship registrations and applications would be processed through the online portal, urging students and parents to complete the registration process within the stipulated timelines.
The meeting were attended by Zilla Panchayat and Panchayat members, Members from Soreng Nagar Panchayat, OSD to MLA (Soreng Chakung) Mr Rajen Basnet, ADC Development Mr Ongdi Sherpa, Senior Welfare Officer Ms Prativa Tamang, CDPO Soreng Ms Gauri Tamang, BDO Soreng Mr Paro Hang Subba, BDO Chumbung Mr Tika Ram Rai, ASHA workers, SHG members and officials.
