80th Independence Day Constituency-Level Open Football Tournament 2026 Continues at Mamring Senior Secondary School
Pakyong, August 11 (IPR): The 80th Independence Day Constituency-Level Open Football Tournament 2026, organised by the Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDDC), Rhenock Constituency, continues at Mamring Senior Secondary School.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare, AYUSH and Culture Department, Mr GT Dhungel graced the event as the Chief Guest, alongside Advisor to HCM, Mr Bishnu Kumar Khatiwada and Commandant 69 BN SSB, Mr Chiranjeev Bhattacharyajee as Guest of Honour.
Addressing the programme, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, AYUSH and Culture Department, Mr GT Dhungel emphasised the initiatives undertaken by the state government in the health sector and stressed the importance of dedication, discipline, proper education and good values among students and emphasised that patience and continuous effort are the keys to success and further urged students to strive for excellence in their respective fields.
During the first match, YBC Assam Linzey defeated 4th Mile FC by 4–1 goal to secure their place in the semifinals. Mr Adarsh Chettri of YBC Assam Linzey was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Likewise, the second match was played between Real Aritar FC and PMLTJDA , in which Real Aritar FC defeated PMLTJDA by 3-0 goals and advanced to the semifinals. Mr Abishek Gurung of Real Aritar was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Prior to it, the first semi-final match of the Inter-School Constituency Level Under 14 Boys’ Football Tournament was played, during which PM SHRI Government Sr Sec School, Dikling, defeated HPK Heritage School with a score of 5–0 to secure a place in the final. Mr Jiten Namgyal Bhutia from PM SHRI Government Sr Sec School, Dikling, was declared the Man of the Match.
During the event, various cultural programmes were carried out by the students of Government Secondary School, Bering; Government Secondary School, Tarpin; Government Junior High School, Taza and Government Sr Secondary School, Mamring.
Additionally, Citizen Foundation NGO and SSB 69 BN, Dhargaon were also felicitated for their valuable service and support in rural areas.
The final of the tournament will be held on August 15, as part of the constituency-level celebrations commemorating the 80th Independence Day.
The event was also attended by Zilla Upadhakshya Pakyong, Ms Prabha Pradhan; Zilla Panchayat and Panchayat Members; CA to HCM, Mr Urgen Lepcha; OSD IT Department, Mr Bum Tshering Yonzon; OSD for Rhenock Constituency, Mr DB Chettri; Assistant Conservator of Forests, Mr Santosh Bagdas, along with officials from various line departments, teachers and general public.
