N.K. Pradhan, Minister/IT addresses IT Ministers Conclave at E-India, Hyderabad

On invitation of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N.K. Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister, IT and Shri Rajesh Verma, Principal Director, IT attended E-India India’s largest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) event at Hyderabad on 4^th and 5^th August 2010. The mega event was held in the swanky and state of the art Hyderabad Hitex City Convention Centre and was attended by senior officers from the Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh and those who matter in the IT industry. The event also had exhibitors from all across the world showcasing the latest technologies and products.

 Shri N.K. Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister participated in the IT Ministers conclave in which he spelt out objectives and the vision of the Government of Sikkim in the field of Information Technology. He also highlighted the fact that the Information Technology was an important component in the Capacity Building and livelihood school programme of the State Government. During the visit the Hon’ble Minister interacted with many agencies that specialize in IT tools for providing E-learning and multimedia based learning solutions for the students. He evinced great interest in these solutions and directed Principal Director, IT to explore the possibility of implementing these in the HRDD Department where the main focus was on providing quality education to the children. Hon’ble Minister requested all the participants to attend Sikkim’s ICT event that was being organized in Gangtok in October 2010.  

Shri Rajesh Verma, Principal Director, IT actively participated as a  panelist in the Thought leaders Conclave and spelt out the issues and challenges that were coming in the successful implementation of E-Governance projects and chartered out the road map for the digital decade in which he focused on the use of IT for reducing the carbon footprint.

Hon’ble Minister also took time of from the conference to review the Geographical Information System project  that the IT Department, Government of Sikkim is jointly implementing with Andhra Pradesh Remote Sensing Application Centre, Hyderabad.
