Two-Week Students' Induction Program 2026 Concludes Successfully at SIST, Chisopani.
Namchi, 1 August: The Sikkim Institute of Science & Technology (SIST), Chisopani, successfully concluded its two-week Students' Induction Program (SIP) 2026 with a grand Valedictory Function held on 1st August 2026, marking the successful completion of a comprehensive orientation programme for the newly admitted students.
Organized under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) B. B. Pradhan, Principal-cum-Director, SIST, the induction programme was designed to facilitate a smooth transition into higher education while fostering academic excellence, ethical values, professional competence, and holistic development.
Over the course of two weeks, students participated in a wide range of academic and co-curricular activities, including sessions on Universal Human Values, Yoga and Meditation, Academic and Examination Orientation, Research & Development, Scholarships, Student Affairs, Library Services, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Artificial Intelligence & Robotics, and Club Registration.
The programme also featured interactive activities such as sports, cultural performances, literary events, talent showcases, and student engagement initiatives that encouraged teamwork, leadership, creativity, and a sense of belonging.
The induction programme was further enriched by expert sessions delivered by distinguished resource persons from various government departments and organizations. Students benefited from insightful lectures by officials from NHPC Ltd., Sikkim Police Department, District Judiciary, District Hospital Namchi, MY Bharat (Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India), and the Government of Sikkim Seed Cell on topics including Substance Abuse Prevention, Mental Health, POCSO, Anti-Ragging, POSH, Women's Health and Hygiene, Entrepreneurship, Youth Development, Innovation, and Responsible Citizenship, equipping them with valuable life skills and professional awareness.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Shri S. K. Mishra, Head of Project-cum-General Manager, NHPC Ltd., Hingdam, South Sikkim, as the Chief Guest, in the esteemed presence of Dr. Chandra Kant Pandey, Head of Medical Division-cum-Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd., and Mr. Pandu Gagrai, Head of Human Resource Division, Rangit Power Station, NHPC Ltd., as Special Guests.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with discipline, integrity, innovation, and social responsibility while making meaningful contributions to nation-building. Certificates were also distributed to participants in recognition of their successful completion of the induction programme.
The successful completion of SIP 2026 reflects the collaborative efforts of academia, government departments, industry, healthcare professionals, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary in preparing students for a successful academic journey and responsible citizenship.
