One-day Orientation Programme on Scholarship Schemes held at Social Welfare Department
An Orientation Programme on various Scholarship Schemes was organised by the Social Welfare Department, Gangtok District, for the Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) of various schools and colleges at the Conference Hall of the Social Welfare Department on 4.08.2026.
The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among the Institutional Nodal Officers (INOs) regarding the various scholarship schemes available for eligible students and to ensure their effective implementation at the institutional level.
The session began with an introduction speech given by Mrs. Anjela Limbu, Welfare Inspector who welcomed all the participants and provided an overview of the purpose and importance of the orientation programme. She briefed the participants on the significance of the role of INOs and emphasized their responsibility in ensuring effective coordination and implementation of the programme at the institutional level.
Following the introductory session, Ms. Samieekcha limboo, District Nodal Officer (DNO) delivered a detailed presentation through a PowerPoint (PPT). The presentation covered the key aspects of the programme and provided necessary guidance to the INOs regarding their duties and responsibilities. The DNO explained the various points included in the PPT and clarified the procedures to be followed by the INOs.
During the session, the participants were also briefed about the recent updates and changes introduced in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The important modifications and provisions were explained to ensure that all INOs are aware of the latest procedures and can guide students accordingly.
One of the major changes highlighted was the provision that a student can now apply for multiple scholarship schemes, wherever eligible, instead of being restricted to a single scheme. The participants were advised to make students aware of this provision and guide them appropriately while applying for scholarships.
The participants were also informed about the availability of CSC (Common Service Centre) facilities for all students, which has now been opened to facilitate students in accessing and completing scholarship-related services. The INOs were requested to disseminate this information among the students and encourage them to utilize the available facilities whenever required.
Lastly, there was an interactive session where the INOs actively participated by raising their queries, sharing the challenges and difficulties they were facing, and seeking clarification on various issues related to the programme. Efforts were made to address and resolve the issues raised by the participants to the extent possible. The interactive session provided a useful platform for better communication, coordination, and understanding between the INOs and DNO.
