Study Visit of Students and Faculty from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad to KVK Namthang.
Namchi, 1 September: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), South Sikkim, hosted a programme for the study visit of students and faculty from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. The programme was organised as part of their study tour of the state.
The programme was graced by the presence of Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director, BIPP, Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad; Senior Scientist and Head, Shri Indra Prasad Shivakoti; Deputy Director, Mr. Wangyal Lepcha; Deputy Director, Dr. Nation Rai; Deputy Director (STL), Yograj Pradhan; ADO Namthang, Smt. Meena Sharma; HDO Namthang, Ms. Choki Sherpa; Subject Matter Specialist, Dr. Pravesh Shivakoty; Subject Matter Specialist, Dr. Chewang Norbu Bhutia; Subject Matter Specialist, Ambika Sharma; and the staff of KVK South Sikkim.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the guests, followed by a brief overview of the purpose of the visit by Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, Indian School of Business (ISB). Dr. Nation Rai, through a detailed presentation, provided information on the activities and initiatives of the department for the benefit of the farming community.
The session was followed by a presentation by Dr. Chewang Norbu Bhutia on “Community-Based Cluster for Value Addition of Sheep Wool and Angora Rabbit Wool of Sikkim Origin for Livelihood Improvement”, which was conducted in an interactive mode. Senior Scientist and Head, Shri I.P. Shivakoti, provided detailed information about the various activities and programmes undertaken by KVK South Sikkim for the benefit of the farming community.
An interactive session was also held, during which the students from ISB actively participated and raised queries related to agriculture, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and allied sectors.
The queries were addressed by the scientists and officials from the department. The programme concluded with feedback from the students of ISB, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by ADO Namthang, Smt. Meena Sharma. The technical session was followed by a field visit of the ISB team to the Government Farm, Perbing.
