RARI Gangtok Organizes Regional Expert Meet on Indigenous Knowledge Documentation

The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gangtok, under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, conducted a consultative meeting on 10 December 2025 with invited subject experts from prominent institutions. Experts who participated included Prof. K. R. Rama Mohan (HOD, Dept. of Anthropology, Sikkim University), Dr. Ashok Kumar (HoRC & Scientist, ICAR Tadong), Dr. Lokesh Deb (Scientist E, IBSD Gangtok), Dr. Sangay Diki Bhutia (Research Officer –II, Tribal Research Institute, Sikkim), Dr. Pempa L. Bhutia (Scientist, ICAR Tadong), Dr. Chukey Lepcha (HRDD, Govt. of Sikkim) and Ren Namgyal (Passingdang, Dzongu – Online).
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Achintya Mitra, Assistant Director In-charge, followed by an introductory session of the experts. A presentation was delivered by the Research Officers (Ayurveda) & Principal Investigators, Dr. Sreelakshmi R S & Dr. Lijima C, which facilitated an insightful exchange during the interactive session. The experts shared their perspectives, provided constructive feedback and offered valuable suggestions to strengthen the documentation process and refine approaches for future work.
The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Jagdish Chandra Arya, Research Officer (Bot.), acknowledging the meaningful contributions of all experts and participants. RARI, Gangtok reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative research and to enhancing the quality and scope of indigenous knowledge documentation through active engagement with multidisciplinary experts.
