Inaugural Function of Computer Familiarization Course for

 Legislators & Ex-Legislators of Sikkim Legislative Assembly

The Computer familiarization course for the Legislators   and ex-Legislators, organized by the Department of Information Technology, was inaugurated by the Hon’ble  Speaker, Shri  K.T.Gyaltsen on 23^rd Nov ’09 at the Sikkim State Legislative Assembly. He was flanked by the Minister, Information Technology, Shri N.K. Pradhan, Minister, UD&HD, Shri D.B.Thapa, Minister, Commerce & Industries, Ms Neeru Sewa, Minister, Energy & Power, Shri Sonam Gyatso Lepcha and other Legislators and ex-Legislators.

The Speaker, in his inaugural speech expressed the need of Computer education for the leaders of the state and also shared some of his personal experiences related to the use of Computer. He also stressed on the fact that Computer has become a necessity these days and is no more a luxury item. Shri N.K.Pradhan also motivated the trainees with his speech and asked them to take full advantage of the course offered and to make use of it in future for good governance.

The Principal Director, Department of Information Technology, Shri Rajesh Verma, made the trainees aware of the missions, roadmap and various initiatives taken so far by the Department of Information Technology, to implement e-governance at its best. He also made them aware of the awards and achievements like Skoch challenger award & Bharat Nirman Award, received by the state for e-governance.
